Using PASER and WISLR to Manage Your Roads

This workshop will benefit both new and current WISLR users. Those new to WISLR and PASER will learn how to get started using WISLR and learn how to rate asphalt pavement condition using PASER. Current WISLR users who have not created maps or produced 5-year plan projections in WISLR will learn how to use these powerful tools.

This online training is intended for Wisconsin town, village, city, and county officials and their consultants who rate the condition of their roads using PASER and submit their ratings to WisDOT through the Wisconsin Information System for Local Roads (WISLR).

How to Participate:

To participate online you will need:

• A computer with audio capabilities and a high-speed Internet connection
• Access to the WISLR online pavement management system including access to the WISLR Pavement Management Tools

Session 3

Using WISLR to Submit Pavement Ratings

• Downloading rating forms
• Submitting condition ratings online
• Modifying data in WISLR
• Using WISLR to update pavement ratings
• Responding to public’s inquiries using WISLR data

Session 4

Managing pavement with WISLR Pavement Analysis Tools

• The WISLR pavement management model
• Loading local cost data
• Running WISLR reports
• Creating a five-year budget plan
• Mapping the plan
• Adding local priority information

After Session 4–Exercise–Run a rudimentary report and two budget trials using your local data

Benjamin Jordan

Benjamin J. Jordan, PE is a program director with Interdisciplinary Professional Programs in the transportation sector. He has over 35 years of experience in civil engineering and public works. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and a Master of Public Affairs degree with a Certificate in Public Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois.

Shelly Coleman

Shelly Coleman is the Statewide Local Roads Coordinator for the Wisconsin DOT. She is responsible for managing the local road certification process and working with local government officials regarding their certified road miles inventory.

Isaac Park

Isaac Park is the Pavement Coordinator and Data Analyst for the Wisconsin DOT. He is responsible for the management, analysis, and reporting of local road pavement data, including the process for submitting pavement ratings.
